Infanticide F8c, LPT – 2nd ascent
Yesterday Pete Robins made the long awaited second ascent of Neil Carson’s route Infanticide F8c (first climbed in 1995) down on the steep bulges of Lower Pen Trwyn.
Last summer Pete repeated Jerry Moffatt’s test piece Liquid Ambar after a protracted siege. Although given the same grade Pete confirmed that Infanticide was a much easier proposition, further fuelling speculation that Liquid Ambar is F8c+.
Infanticide takes the first three quarters of the unrepeated Big Bang F9a (which was also climbed by Neil Carson in the mid 90s), before swerving rightwards into the finish of Youthanasia F8b.
Pete has become a regular visitor to the ormes, whether it be LPT or upstairs in Parisella’s Cave, but after this latest ascent he hinted at a shift in direction: “Time for a brief break from LPT now!”
If Pete dusts down his trad rack with this level of fitness, who knows what might happen!
