The trend for inventive link ups on the in-vogue Lower Pen Trwyn continues. Yesterday it was Pete Robins turn to make his mark with the logical connection of George Smith’s Wild Understatement F8a+ into Steve Mayers’ Youthanasia F8b.

“Youthanasia is an awesome route with a bit of everything, very technical and still pumpy with an amasing burly finale which only just has enough holds. What I did was the obvious link starting up Big-G’s Wild Understatement. This straightens out the line and adds an good chunk of climbing at the start so it’s probably the most sustained climb on the cliff. Steve gives the thumbs up to this link as he was originally temped by the possibility before he eventually chose to start up Statement”

Explained Pete before adding:

“It’s hard to grade, as techy things always are, but maybe a bit too much for F8b, so creeping into the F8b+ bracket. The best bit is working out a sequence so I’d give it a few weeks for my chalk to wash off!”
